Ron Paulites...Crazy? Take This Quiz!
(14 May, 2008)

Ah, more of the same: politicians acting like they know and understand history, the concept of liberty, or the role of government intended by the framers of the U.S. Constitution.

A Democratic pundit on Fox News (Bob Beckel) recently called Ron Paul supporters "nuts." He affirmed his hope that Ron Paul would speak at the Republican National Convention, and made it obvious that this hope was based on the assumption that a Ron Paul speech would give the convention a touch of crazy. As a Democrat, he seemed to revel in the idea.

Since Paul entered the race, pundits and politicians have called him and his supporters various forms of crazy.

Interesting.

And now a multiple choice quiz.

1. What's crazier:
(a) Injecting hundreds of thousands of United States soldiers into the middle of an age-old Shia-Sunni-Kurd battleground
(b) Using United States soldiers to defend the United States' own borders

2. What's crazier:
(a) Putting the United States in the middle of a centuries-old blood hatred between Muslims and Jews in and around Israel
(b) Being a beacon of liberty at home

3. What's crazier:
(a) Meddling in the Middle East in various ways, including arming groups, bombing cities, invading countries, occupying sacred spots, financing groups, propping up governments, deposing governments, and disrupting the politics of sovereign nations--to name a few
(b) Not meddling in the Middle East

4. What's crazier:
(a) Defending a foreign policy bound to bankrupt the country
(b) Defending a foreign policy the United States can afford

5. What's crazier:
(a) Ignoring the Constitution of the United States while growing government
(b) Heeding the Constitution of the United States with the aim of restraining government

6. What's crazier:
(a) Trusting some policymaker in Washington to decide which millennium-old conflicts we're going to inject ourselves into next
(b) Standing for being a beacon of liberty at home

7. What's crazier:
(a) Believing that by starting wars in the Middle East we will make friends
(b) Believing that by starting wars in the Middle East we will make enemies

8. What's crazier:

(b) Believing that meddling around militarily in foreign lands is certain to result in unintended consequences, or blowback

9. What's crazier:
(a) The idea that the U.S. government and America are the same thing
(b) The idea that the U.S. government and America are two very different things

10. What's crazier:
(a) A foreign policy that props up dictators as part of its global strategy
(b) A foreign policy focused on being an example of liberty and freedom to the world

If you answered "a" to any of those, you might be crazy.

Evidently, however, Bob Beckel would answer "a" to each and every one. After all, answering "b" would mean he's in agreement with those crazies who are voting for Ron Paul.

The fact is, Bob, you're the crazy one. You're the one who's "nuts," and this country doesn't have time for you. We need change, and we need it now. The world needs it, and I'm afraid America's the only one who might be able to give it, and you and your fellow crazies have taken up just about enough of our time, thank you very much. You've tried. You've failed. Your policies are a mess. Your ideas have dragged us to the brink of bankruptcy and endless war. Meanwhile you sit there laughing at the only candidate for U.S. president who isn't spouting insanity. Your time is up, brother.

Never fear, all you Ron Paul supporters. When a crazy calls you nuts, isn't that a good thing?
